Classes

To participate in OSA classes, you must an OSA Member. If you are starting classes in the fall, your membership fee will apply to the following calendar year.

Daytime classes are usually 3-hour periods unless otherwise noted, and are held in our studios at OSA. Parking is available, adjacent to the building.

Drying racks are available for students to leave their paintings while they are working on them. This is a tremendous help when transporting larger or wet paintings. We usually have room to store your still life objects as well.

As well as quality instruction from experienced artists, we offer members the opportunity to show their work in our gallery. For exhibit schedules and guidelines, see our Gallery Events page.

We will continue working on these aspects of portraiture while introducing: wet into wet painting using thicker paint and brushes of different shapes and sizes,  using brushstroke to define structure and form,  exploring additional textures such as dry brush, line and transparency, learning to control emphasis using detail and value to direct the viewers’ gaze, and, finally, ways to speed up the whole process and paint faster.
